To provide its expertise during the preparation of studies in order to determine the design best suited to the research questions. To define the data management methods which guarantee the quality of the results. Supporting teams in the handling of data.
PRESENTATION
- The Competence Center for Methodology and Statistics (CCMS) was established in March 2010 in order to meet the methodological and statistical needs of the Department of Public Health and to support the other research departments and laboratories within CRP-Santé. The CCMS further aims to develop contractual public health management and data handling activities for other national and international bodies.
- CCMS also promotes the production of high quality data, which is necessary if the subsequent statistical analysis is to be informative. Expertise is provided during the preparation of studies in order to determine the best suitable design for the research questions asked. Data management methods are also defined, guaranteeing the highest quality of statistical results for each study. For this purpose the Capture System software covers all areas of data management and provides a secure location for clinical data, user rights, and profiles, along with password protection. A full audit trail is put in place for each new study.
- Courses have been provided in statistics in nursing (IFSI), clinical research (IUT), meta-analysis (Roche), and statistical issues in drug development (Royal Statistical Society). A series of statistics notes designed to help medical researchers is in preparation.
