CRP-Santé is delighted to invite you to the Friday seminar entitled "Non-Targeted Metabolomics: From Biomarker Discovery to the Metabolic  Fate of Compounds" by Dr Karsten Hiller - Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedecine (LCSB).

Host: Norlux Neuro-Oncology Laboratory

Abstract:

Modern metabolomics techniques allow for the simultaneous detection of several hundreds of compounds present in complex metabolite mixtures. I will present computational and experimental techniques for the non-targeted analysis of GC/MS-based metabolomics data. Furthermore, I will present a new stable-isotope based technology for the elucidation of the metabolic fate of metabolic precursors. Our methodology traces the fate of labeled compounds through the metabolism of biological systems and enables the identification of pathways connected to the tracer in a non-targeted way. Moreover, the proposed system determines the mass isotopomer distributions (MIDs) for all detected labeled compounds. MIDs are crucial for the determination of fluxes through the discovered pathways.
