2011 - 05 - 21 “Best oral presentation” for Laurence Renard

Laurence Renard, PhD student at the Centre for Health Studies was awarded the best oral presentation prize at the “Rencontre de l’Hôtel Dieu” in Paris on Thursday May 12, 2011.

The quality of her presentation entitled “Adherence to European follow-up guidelines in type 2 diabetes: The case of Luxembourg” was strongly appreciated. The “Rencontre de l’Hôtel Dieu” is an opportunity for PhD students in Public Health to introduce their research project evolution, including results. These days were organized in collaboration with the public health doctoral program of University of North Carolina and the association PH’Doc of the doctoral network PhD students. Congratulations to Laurence Renard!

Introduction of the oral presentation: Type 2 diabetes is associated with severe micro- and macro-vascular complications. Physicians’ and patients’ adherence to follow-up guidelines permits to avoid or postpone those complications. The objectives were to assess the level of adherence to minimal follow-up guidelines and detect patients’ characteristics associated with insufficient adherence in the context of Luxembourg, where no official guidelines were implemented.
