2011 - 08 - 31 CRP-Santé now supporting “LISA”

On 3 august, 2011, CRP-Santé has decided to support the Luxembourg Life Sciences Association (LISA) with a 2.500 € funding contribution. The collaboration was officially signed between Dr. Schmit, CEO of CRP-santé, Thomas Lentz, CFO of CRP-Santé, Anne-Marie Ternes, President of LISA, and Alain Gras, treasurer of LISA. CRP-Santé will support LISA’s activities and will contribute to gather other potential institutions on LISA’s goals.

LISA is organized in and acts as an umbrella association for thematic working groups in life sciences. It has been created in 2010 with the aim to provide a legal entity to two very active, but until then "unofficial" associations, namely LuciLinX - the Luxembourg Bioinformatics Network, and The Biolux Network - Connecting Researchers.

LISA is thus currently composed of the LuciLinX and Biolux workgroups, and is always open to the addition of further life sciences groups. LISA workgroups are self-organising and financially independent. LISA's legal status entitles it to submit projects and request grants (such as Fond National de Recherche – Accompanying Measures) for workshops, symposia and any other activities organised by its workgroups.

LISA offers two types of membership:

- Active members, i.e. individuals with a voting right. Membership to any workgroup is equal to membership to LISA.

- Honorary members without a voting right. This type of membership is targeted at research institutions, companies, associations or any other type of organization who wishes to support the association. To help fund the activities of the association, a yearly membership fee is collected per supporting organization and tied to a convention signed between each institution and LISA.

Care is taken to balance the representation of each member institution and each workgroup in the Management Board.

LISA currently has around 100 active members. CRP-Santé is the first institution having signed the convention to become a honorary member, thus showing its will to financially support LISA workgroup activities.
