2010 - 07 - 29 Centre for Health Studies
On 28 July 2010, the Centre for Health Studies has transmitted following requested report to the Ministry of Health: « National strategy in favor of mental health for children and youth in Luxembourg: promotion, prevention, support, integration » .
A statement performed in 2008 among families and medical, therapeutical, psychological, educational, social and juridical professionals has allowed to highlight strengths and weaknesses among the health promotion system, the system for prevention of mental health disorders and the system for support of psychic problems among youngsters in Luxembourg. Their specific needs and requirements have also been highlighted.
A national consultation process - through different thematic workshops - has allowed achieving a national common strategy in favor of mental health and wellbeing of youth and their families. Guiding principles have been established in order to guide public politics and professional strategies. 73 recommendations have been elaborated in order to achieve a national action plan for protection of youth’s mental health in Luxembourg.
These recommendations are focused on:
- creation of permanent consultation organs,
- establishment of a epidemiological surveillance system,
- establishment of a service offer information system,
- establishment of a pluri-professional evaluation for determination of dependency,
- development of a local offer.
