The Norlux Neuro-Oncology Laboratory has extended its collaboration with the University of Umeå in Sweden to carry out a metabolomics analysis of brain tumors. The laboratory of Dr. Henrik Antti, at the Department of Biological Chemistry and Computational Life Science Cluster (CLiC) at the University of Umeå is specialized in chemometrics and statistical analysis.
Fred Fack, researcher at the Norlux Neuro-Oncology Laboratory, has spent a week in his lab in Umeå to get acquainted with a GC-MS based analysis of metabolites extracted from brain tumours after treatment with anti-angiogenic agents. Based on recent findings in an experimental glioma model, the Norlux laboratory is putting major efforts in elucidating tumour metabolism and metabolic switch of cancer cells under different oxygen conditions.
