2011 - 01 - 31 Julia Kessler defended her PhD thesis at the Universität des Saarlandes, in Homburg, Germany
Department of Immunology - On Friday, 21.1.2011, Julia Kessler successfully defended her PhD work (magna cum laude) at the Universität des Saarlandes in Homburg/Saar Germany. The title of her PhD thesis is « Genetic and phenotypic characterization of different measles virus strains and their interaction with the innate immune response ».
Julia Kessler PhD has written or co-authored 5 publications and another publication is in preparation. She has given numerous oral presentations, both as department seminars and at international meetings. During her PhD Julia Kessler has learned a broad range of scientific techniques as well as soft skills that are essential for her future scientific career. The English speaking environment of the Institute of Immunology has prepared her for her new position as a post-doctoral scientist at the Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology, Queen's University in Belfast, United Kingdom.
