2010 - 01 - 07 Systems Biology in the SaarLorLux Region

Advances in Computational, Structural and Medical Approaches presented at the First SaarLorLux Workshop on Systems Biology . Researchers from different scientific organisations of the SaarLorLux region met at the Lorraine Laboratory of IT Research and its Applications (LORIA) in Nancy, France, during the 14 and 15 of December to discuss recent progress, promising research directions and cooperation in the area of systems biology.

An objective of this research discipline is the design and integration of advanced computational methods for modelling complex biological systems and its applications in human health research. Francisco Azuaje , a senior researcher at the CRP-Santé Laboratory of Cardiovascular Research (LCR), gave an invited talk entitled: “Systems approaches to biomarker discovery”, which provided an introduction to key methodologies in this area, including novel approaches currently being developed at the LCR.
