2010 - 03 - 11 Top list of most viewed articles in BMC Structural Biology

Since their publication in BMC Structural Biology in 2009 two articles of the Department of Immunology are on the top list of most viewed articles with a total view of more than 8500 times. This figure includes accesses to the full text, abstract and PDF of the article on the BMC Structural Biology website. It does not include accesses from PubMed Central or other archive sites. Both articles publish results on influenza, which attract worldwide attention.

Both articles describe properties and features of the pandemic H1N1 virus and the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1 virus, that have been identified by bioinformatic tools that are critical for the evolution of these viruses. These high access statistics demonstrate the high visibility that is achieved by open access publication.
