The laboratory aims to understand the biological mechanisms underlying the initiation and progression of malignant brain tumors , and to identify and characterize novel molecular targets for targeted therapies, including cell and gene therapy, against high grade gliomas.
PRESENTATION
The Norlux Neuro-Oncology Laboratory is part of the NorLux Neuro-Oncology network, www.norlux.lu
, a joint network between CRP-Santé, Luxembourg
and the Department of Biomedicine, University of Bergen, Norway
. In 2003 a convention was signed between the two institutions with the aim to foster collaborative research, scientific competence building and staff exchange. A functional laboratory was established at CRP-Santé in 2005/2006.
The laboratory carries out basic and pre-clinical research with a strong translational profile. Our ultimate goal is to generate deliverables that can be tested in the clinical setting to improve current treatment options for brain tumor patients.
