The main objective of the National Focal Point is to collect, to produce, to analyze and to provide valid, reliable and comparable data on drugs and drug addiction in Luxembourg. This includes surveillance and research activities.
PRESENTATION
The National European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug addiction – Luxembourg Focal Point has been set up in 1994 and implemented within the CRP-Santé in 2000. It operates both at national and international level and is co-financed by the Ministry of Health and the EMCDDA on a contractual basis. Each of the 27 EU Member states (plus Norway and the candidate countries) run a NFP and thus are part of a wider network called REITOX.
National Focal Points are expert centers, constantly developing to meet emerging needs and follow up trends. Common activities of a NFP include coordinating national information networks in order to meet the EMCDDA’s requirements for a core set of data and to edit annual reports on the state of drugs problem at the national level.
