Brief Posting Description:
In collaboration with a research team, this position contributes to the design, execution, and implementation of scientific research. The graduate student will work closely with the Investigator on peer-reviewed and new projects that involve internal, national, and international collaborations.
Detailed Description:
* Plans, with the input of scientific leadership, and executes experiments toward defined project hypotheses.
* Collects data for research and experimental purposes following established research procedures.
* Analyzes and summarizes research data. Compiles and analyzes results into tables, charts, figures, etc. for accessibility and preparation for manuscript publication.
* Performs general laboratory duties.
* Researches literature related to the project.
* Assists in safety and lab equipment training, protocols, data analysis, and presentations.
* Participates in lab meetings by updating department of progress, results, and future goals/studies.
* Assists in writing proposals.
* Attends seminars and journal clubs.
* Mentors interns and under-graduate students.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Master's degree in a science-related field (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular and/or Cellular Biology, Genetics); Experience in a range of molecular biology techniques, and with biotech equipment (i.e., thermal cyclers, spectrophotometers, microscopes, centrifuges);
Must be proficient in the use of computers and general office software (Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)) in addition to being comfortable with technical applications and analysis software relating to laboratory equipment.
Must possess high level problem solving/reasoning skills, in addition to highly competent lab bench skills.
Desirable experience and techniques include PCR, sequencing, real-time PCR, tissue culture, gel electrophoresis, Western blots, operation of robotic equipment.
Must be able to work effectively within a relatively independent structure.
Additional Details:
This person will need to communicate effectively with all levels of staff to ensure that data integrity and team goals are met.

The position is available for the PPM project in close collaboration with the groups of Dr A. Paulovich from Fred Hutchinson center, Seattle and Dr C.Selinsky from the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen,Phoenix, Arizona -www.tgen.org)
The position is financed by the FNR of Luxembourg with AFR grants for a public-private partnership and is for a period of 3 years. The candidate will work in USA (most of the time in Phoenix) and will participate in regular exchange with CRP-Santé and Seattle.
