Since its creation in 2004, the Plant Molecular Biology (PMB) Unit has been closely associated with the Laboratory of ImmunoGenetics-Allergology (LIGA). A common objective of the two laboratories was to intensify research on allergens of animal and plant origin at CRP-Santé.
They have been collaborating since in FNR-funded projects in the domain of Food Safety, focusing on the development of molecular probes for the tracing of allergenic material derived from plant and animal species.
The laboratory also sustained the original research on plant LIM proteins initiated in 1990 in André Steinmetz’s former laboratory at the Plant Molecular Biology Institute (IBMP) in Strasbourg France.
The LBMV is in charge of the CMIF platform (CRP-Santé Microscopy Imaging Facilities). The platform is dedicated to confocal microscopy imaging and is open to academic or industrial users from Luxembourg and surrounding areas.
